Based in Half moon Bay, British Columbia, on the beautiful paddling paradise of the sunshine coast, we are two avid paddling brothers bringing to Canada high performance boards designed by life long avid paddlers in Hawaii.  Ian and Lauren Foo cofounded HYPR Hawaii in 2003 and have been refining their board design since then, steadily improving the design and build quality of their boards. Lifelong ocean watermen and women, they are as passionate about paddling as they are meticulous about build quality and design detail. 

 

It’s all about the hull. The essential feature of HYPR Hawaii boards and the key to their speed, performance and handling is the patented hull design. The HYPR board has a unique 10 mm deep double concave hull which increases lift and makes these boards extraordinarily fast for their width. This advanced hydrodynamic design channels both water and air bubbles over the fins, giving a smoother, faster and more stable glide. After the first few paddle strokes, the three upward sloping chines move the lateral waterline inward to lift the board effortlessly, and reduces the overall width of the board being pushed through the water. A 32 inch wide board glides and paddles like a 26 when moving. Simply put . . . reduced resistance equals speed. The channeled torrents of water running through the double concaves also contributes to exceptional tracking.

 HYPR Canada offers “direct to paddler pricing” on all of our boards.  We have eliminated every broker and agent that would typically mark up prices along the supply chain.  We have no typical “brick and mortar” retail costs to pass along to the paddler.  Also, there is no glitzy marketing department to drive up costs.  We don’t even sponsor “team riders” because we allow our proud HYPR Hawaii board owners to do our talking. HYPR Canada pricing reflects increased international shipping costs, and a significant portion is taken up by individually hand-crafted labour and the premium materials of high quality board construction. “Paddling is believing.” We strongly believe in "paddle before you buy" and we will make every effort to arrange a demo paddle on various models of our high performance SUP line-up; exceptional in design, quality and durability.
